Long Distance Poems About Love,
by Gianni

Sept. 17, 2009

The first of many poems about love that I have written to the most fabulous woman alive was before I even met her in person. We had been communicating on the internet for a little over 2 weeks and had been getting along wonderfully. The connection between us had already grown quite strong. I had already begun to express a little more depth of passion to her during our chat sessions online. I was going to finally meet her in a few days at a midway point between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. But by now, she had already begun to inspire love poetry from my soul. In an email, I couldn’t help but include my first of many romantic expressions to come. (In all excerpts, we use our pen names for The Masked Truelovers, Gianni and Sophie)

My First of Many Poems About Love:

A woman named Sophie has stolen my heart
who surprised me as the embodiment of perfection;
she has given my life a brand new start
and wonderful expectations of my life’s direction.

But this new change is not for me alone.
it is only reserved for her and I together;
the strength of my emotions she has blown
as a balloon caught in the wind of weather.

We had come a long way in 2 ˝ weeks of online communication where we had met on a Christian dating site. During those few days, we had been sending emails back and forth constantly throughout each day, chatting online many times, and also recently began to speak by cell phone. To write that first of many romantic poems for sweet Sophie came so naturally to me. She had touched my heart in a big way in a short time.

At the time, I didn’t realize that I would write many more poems about love to this adorable woman – who is now my wife 14 months later (as I write this today). On the very day we would meet, we spoke by cell phone on our way to the midway point between our two states. I began to write more love poetry in my head and turned the verses into my first of many romantic songs that I would write for her in the months to come. I recited the words to her as I made them up and composed a tune to go with the words.

I’m in love with a girl named Sophie;
she turns my stomach inside out.
I know that some day it will be just we,
and to prove that, I am enroute …

to visit her the very first time,
if I don’t, I surely will die;
when I see her I will only mime,
because if I speak my eyes will cry.

I was writing words from my heart to a woman that I was yearning to finally see in person for the first time. I had been having problems eating and sleeping for days. We were both nervous about finally meeting in person, and had already agreed that we didn’t have to say a word if we didn’t want to. We were meeting just so our bodies could catch up to what our souls and spirits had already begun to experience with each other over the internet. I didn’t realize that I was beginning a trend of writing many poems about love when I wrote those two verses in my head for Sophie. I didn’t realize that song would become our “life song”. I have now written 12 verses to that romantic song. We have called it “THE FIRST TIME (OUR LIFE SONG)”. I have gradually added on to it for over a year now to commemorate significant events in our relationship. The most recent verses deal with our wedding and honeymoon.

I have now written over 30 poems about love. Sophie is my inspiration. She has drawn the words out of my soul. I have turned most of them into romantic songs that I sing to Sophie on a daily basis. We now offer a PDF of most of the poems. Click here for immediate access now Admittedly, a few of them have a touch of blues because of our long distance relationship. We are married now and live over 150 miles away from each other. We see each other every weekend. So my daily serenades is one of the things that helps us deal with our long distance love. Because we communicate via cell phone numerous times a day, I have promised to serenade her at least once a day – but not just while we live so far apart – but for the rest of our lives together. …
